Socratic Democracy is now in English
Hi friends and foes of democracy! Hola, amigos y enemigos de la democracia en grecia antigua!
Socratic Democracy is now available in English!
For those who are seeing this for the first time, Socratic Democracy is a tiny little game that simulates being a politician in a small, direct democracy around the time of Socrates, Aristoteles, Plato and the like. In this game, the player is Leonidas, a young and ambitious citizen of the independent city state of Foititia. Leonidas wants to get elected and reelected for ever, perhaps to improve his city, but mostly to mark his name in history. To do so, he must make popular promises and keep them. However, the path to glory is tricky, as the most popular promises will create powerful enemies.
For a long time, the game was only available in Spanish. That was because the game was created for my students in Ecuador. I finally got to work for 3 full days to add English as athe default language, with Spanish and Portuguese as options.
Well, the portuguese version is not fully implemented. Consider it to be "portunhol" as of now.
I hope the addition of English brings more people to the game. Currently, 80% of my current visits are from non-Spanish speaking countries. I wonder how many tried to play before they realized it was only in spanish...
