Play as a politician in the fictitious ancient greek city-state of Foititia. Make promises in campaigns and try to fulfill them once elected.

The objective is to survive in power long enough to make 100 power+happiness points. Can you do it?

The options and events in the game portray Socrates' theory of democracy, expressed in Book 8 of Plato's Republic.

Currently, the game is only available in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Hi,
I found your contact at upwork, but could not send a message there. I am a composer, sound designer, and musician from Brazil. I worked in several different projects as a professional musician since 2010, as a violinist, singer/songwriter,  building soundtracks for theater plays in the beginning, I worked also building soundtracks for independent movies and as an actress and musician in a recent serie. I am graduated in History and I am currently studying game design at CALARTs and working as sound designer for a company called Music Brain Training. During my graduation course in History, I researched profoundly doing some presentations before lectures regarding medieval music. My ba thesis is focused in classical studies where my main subject of research was about priesthoods of Republican Rome. As a musician and researcher, I collect instruments and besides that have many fellow musicians who work with musicology and music playing different historical instruments that could work in association for this project. I wish to sending you my resume if fits your project please let me know, so if we can connect through email my contact is:
fernandaf.lyra@gmail.com

Best wishes, Fernanda

Hello Pedro!

I discovered your game from the Upwork sound design job, and I can't wait to play it when you implement all the thoughts you have. I think it has great potential!

It also inspired me to write this short track for your game. I hope you'll like it:

If you like this kind of sound, I would be honored to work on your project!

Man, that is a true show of interest :) Thank you a lot! For some reason I am not been able to open it, there comes an error "This track was not found. Maybe it has been removed"... is it some cookie thing on my part, or could it be that this song is currently not made public?

Seems like I've copied the wrong link :) Here it is:

Amazing game that's totally underrated

By the way you should add a way to restart the game without restarting the page

Hi there, my King!

I love your comment, makes me feel that the game is better than what we get credit for. But in reality, I feel like no one even knows we exist, jejeje!!! Like, we are "not yet rated", instead of "underrated".

The idea you mention is really easy to implement, and so I will, next time I find 2 hours to work on it.

Cheers!

a very good game , but need some more work

I agree! I am currently working on the art (see the devlogs), and on making the game more of a visual novel. Would you like to give me some advice on how to improve it?

I was going to say the art but since you are already working on it here are same ideas

1- random events that can be both helpful or harmful

2- a way to change the difficulties , as much as I liked the game it was hard to get used to it at the start ,it wasn't a big problem for me but I can see why same people may not gave it a chance it deserves

3- maybe also more choses to make , more places to go , more ways to get happiness and power

I agree with everything you say! I will implement random events, but few. My resources are limited, as I am a university professor (of politics) and my team is made of students or former students. Feature creep is something my team has to be unusually careful about. Still, I am working on like 4 different places where small events and dialogues can take place. Examples: (1) promote parties, where you talk with the population; (2) visit the adversary city, which would give you hints you cannot win them in a war; (3) visit a local oracle, (4) have chats with Bion, the philosopher (in place of him telling you things you didn't ask).

If you want to check where the art is going, you can visit my latest devlog entry: https://pedrorns.itch.io/democracia-socratica/devlog/455422/evolving-the-art-of-...

Thanks, again, for sharing your opinions about the game.

that will be great , cant wait to see the future of the game and BTW you gave me a great idea since you the in ancient Greece how about adding a temple in the map that the player can visit in which will give him something like ( spiritual leader/ support of the temple ) which gives 100 vote

lastly do you have patron or something that we can support you with ?

I don't have a patreon yet... Thanks for asking! You motivate me to create one.

About the spiritual leader and votes... This is an educational game, and almost everything in it is based on chapter 8 of Plato's Republic. So I would check if there is something about religion support and votes... I remember something quite different: Socrates' suggest that populist leaders would use temples as their property, or something like that.
